Custom Aerospace today announced that James A. Lawson has been appointed President of the Company. This hire was a strategic move by Custom Aerospace CEO, Evan Cramer, to further diversify CAM’s customer portfolio and to reach aerospace clients with operations outside of the United States.

As President of Custom Aerospace, he will have primary responsibility for business and corporate development with a focus on aviation and aerospace clientele. His role includes global planning, capital equipment evaluation and negotiation with strategic focus clients as well as key suppliers.

Prior to appointment as President of Custom Aerospace, he spent 12 years as president of Shapes Aerospace International and 22 years with Shapes’ corporate predecessor, Accudyne Corporation where he was founder and CEO. Both at Shapes Aerospace and Accudyne, his primary focus was on enhancing solutions to customer requirements in machining, fabrication, component assembly as well as tooling for global aerospace and defense companies.

Before founding Accudyne Corporation in 1981, he held various financial and operations management positions for companies in manufacturing and construction in North Carolina, Indiana and Michigan.

He has served on the Government Affairs committee of the National Tooling and Machining Association, the Advisory Board of the College of Business at the Florida Institute of Technology, the Board of the BCC Foundation and the Board of Directors of the North American Flat Panel Display Division of the United States Display Consortium (USDC).

He received his bachelor’s degree in computer science & marketing from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio and a master of business administration from the Kenan-Flagler School at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

Jim Lawson brings a tremendous depth of knowledge and experience to CAM and longstanding relationships with major aerospace tier 1 and 2 companies.
