Custom Aerospace Machine has taken delivery of newly acquired Charmilles 4020i Wire EDM.
Now fully operational this Wire EDM acquisition will enhance overall production levels of CAM as well as provide support to HARRIS CORP, as they continue to work on the Aireon Hosted Payload Program. Harris has achieved a key milestone under a five-year contract with Aireon LLC that will create the first global satellite-based aircraft tracking system (original article).
This High Speed Charmilles Wire EDM Machine is capable of machining parts as large as 18″long, 14″ wide and 14″ tall. Wire diameter sized from 0.004″ to 0.012″ and high resolution 0.0001″ motion encoders, this wire EDM can achieve incredibly accurate tolerances.
This acquisition brings Custom Aerospace’s total EDM inventory to three including two wire EDM’s and one Sinker EDM.
